Encino Marriage Counselors, Psychologists, Psychotherapists and Therapists

De Salvo has been in the mental health field since 1974 and has
been a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist since 1992. His
psychotherapy office is located in Encino, California where he
specializes in improving self-esteem, couples and relationship
issues, alcoholism, life style transitions, bulimia and compulsive
overeating, grief counseling, depression, substance abuse and
eco psychology. He conducts both long and short term psychotherapy,
using psychodynamic and family systems approaches including transpersonal
psychology and guided imagery. In addition to his private practice,
Mario currently acts as an adjunct faculty member at Pepperdine
University and Antioch University. He instructs courses in substance
abuse, family therapy, theories of counseling and psychotherapy,
group therapy, theories of personality and practicum, couples
counseling, ecopsychology, contemporary family issues and eating
disorders. He has also conducted psychotherapy at The Rader Institute
and at Pathfinders Treatment Center and served on the committee
to design and implement the program’s eating disorder protocol.

Mario graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in
liberal arts with a concentration in Psychology from Antioch
University. He subsequently obtained his Master’s Degree in Marriage,
Family and Child Therapy from the California Family Study Center.
His thesis studied the correlation between relapse and the level
of involvement in the Overeaters Anonymous Program. He is currently
in the process of completing his Ph.D. in clinical psychology
with a depth orientation at Pacifica Graduate Institute.
